Over 100 million people resolve to make a resolution in the new year, and most of them fail. New Year’s resolutions are fun but extremely difficult to follow and maintain. Each January, roughly one in three try to be to better themselves in some way and a smaller percentage of people actually make good on those resolutions. Where many of their’s resolution would be towards Health, might have a slew of ideas running around in the head.
It’s hard to keep up the enthusiasm months after you’ve swept up the confetti, but it’s not impossible. This year, pick one of the following worthy resolutions, and stick with it. Here’s to your health! One of the most pervasive and destructive in terms of a fitness-related resolution is the lack of direction.
Lose Weight
This might be one of the hardest resolutions for someone to follow and to promptly. But it is possible for you to succeed if you don’t expect overnight success. Plan for bumps in the road. Make use of a food journal to keep track of what you eat and have a support system in place.
It almost seems futile to discuss why the diets or diet chart don’t work when they’re the centerpiece of your resolution. But let’s break it down a little bit and make it possible. Consider 7-Day Eat Better Challenge or the full 9-week Happy Body Formula program to see the results. It is less about what your resolution is, and more about how you would approach it.
Quit Smoking
Before you decide to QUIT Smoking, think about what makes you want to do these things in the first place. Many smokers find themselves relying on vices during the time of stress. We have mental cues that are so subconscious if you’re trying to quit, start with becoming aware of the lead-up; if you smoke after a meal, start replacing that with something healthy instead. If you are really stressed up with your work, try to take a break and replace your smoking habit with having a cup of tea/coffee or with some other drink.
Just Join Gym
A gym is a place where we can reach serious potential, but it doesn’t come by simply signing up to the gym. Make sure you’re getting what you want from the gym, and it will no longer feel like a chore, and you’ll actually look forward to going.
Sleep Well
For humans, sleep is a vital indicator of overall health and well-being. A human spend one-third of our lives asleep, and the overall state of our “sleep health” remains an essential question throughout our lifespan. To determine how many hours of sleep you need, it’s not only important to assess where you fall on the “sleep needs spectrum,” but also to examine the lifestyle factors are affecting the quality and quantity of your sleep such as work schedules and stress.
Carry Healthy Snacks to Work Place
Research shows that eating once in every four hours helps to keep your metabolism charged and your energy level high. Don’t get caught in front of the vending machine that sells junk food. Pack healthy snacks (each less than 200 calories) to keep you feeling full and satisfied throughout the work day.
Skip alcohol
It’s not easy to quit drinking alcohol for many people. However, there are several common-sense things you can do immediately that will make it a bit easier to quit than you might have suspected.
- Do not keep alcohol at home or work. Instead, choose healthy alternatives when you feel like drinking an alcoholic beverage.
- Do not talk, think or act as if you are powerless before your addiction.
- Do not let one mistake ruin your resolve because the things in life that are truly worth having are the things that take a little effort.
- DO maintain a healthy diet.
Plan a Fitness Date with Friend
Why don’t you replace a chit chat or romantic or movie date to a fitness date? Catch Up with a friend casually and plan for few fun exercises, cycling, fitness games and end up with a healthy diet.
Green Tea
Green tea is made from Camellia sinensis leaves which have not undergone the withering and oxidation process that is used to make oolong and black tea. Green tea was originated in China, but its production has spread to many countries in Asia. Green tea is 99.9% water, provides 1 Calorie per 100 mL, devoid of significant nutrient content (table) and contains phytochemicals, such as polyphenols and caffeine.
Every year, losing weight, eating healthy, and getting fit compete for the top spot on New Year resolutions. And by the middle of January, the majority of those high-minded health goals might have been abandoned. But it doesn’t have to be this way. The problem is many healthy resolutions are too big and too vague to actually accomplish, so aim smaller and go specific.
