Type 1

More commonly known as Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus or Juvenile diabetes. In this type of diabetes, it mainly occurs in children and young adults, and here the beta cells of pancreas are unable to produce enough insulin required by the body and thus, in these type of diabetes, it is required to inject insulin in the body.

Earlier this type of diabetes was commonly seen in adults and hence it was called Adult-Onset, however nowadays it can be commonly seen in children as well and is simply called as Type 2 diabetes.

When a person suffers from non-insulin dependent diabetes, the beta cells in the body make the insulin but the cells fail to respond to such insulin thus rejecting the absorption. This results in a condition called insulin resistance. This type of diabetes mainly affects obese people.

People who have a family history of diabetes are also at a risk of getting NIDDM (noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitu). Treatments for this type of diabetes usually require oral hypoglycemic agents firstly and then, if required further, it is treated with drugs.
