Being mother is the most beautiful feeling ever. You see someone running around your house who is half you and the half the other person you fell for. Your child is part of you. You bear that little creature for almost nine months in your womb within you. You may fall apart from anyone, but you can never do away with your own child. So, won’t you want him healthy and fit? Won’t you want him to play like the other children in the park? You will want him to grow up fit and fine. Not just physically but mentally too. This is what is mother’s love.
Many tell Gods have sent mother in this universe because it wouldn’t have been possible for him to look after all of us. Indeed! But do you know that a child develops many things when he is inside your womb? Not just physically does he grow but also he undergoes some mental developments. The mother needs to be very careful and also take care of her health these days. Today we will see some health precautions during pregnancy that are necessary to take:
Care that should be taken especially in the trimester:
The three months after you get pregnant is the most important phase. You will have many changes undergoing in your body during this time. Physiological changes will be there along with psychological changes. Simultaneously, in these three months, the main organs of your baby will develop.
Avoid fat in the trimester- In these three months, you’re not supposed to have any food which will have fat in it. Have pulses, cereals, legumes. For protein take meat, eggs.
Eat calcium rich foods– You need to have sufficient calcium during this time. Milk has got a lot of calcium. Have some milk products.
Consume Vit-D– You need to get Vit D. Egg yolks, tuna, fish liver oil has got a lot of Vit D. Have them in plenty. Even sitting out in the sun helps in the formation of Vit D but then too much exposure won’t be good. Try Salmons too.
Omega-3 fatty acids must in your food- Omega-3 fatty acids contribute growth of your junior’s brain and eyesight. It also helps in the nervous development.
Iron and folic acid supplement- Your doctor will also prescribe you to have iron supplements along with folic acid. This will be necessary for your child’s spine development. It also helps in growth of nerve cells. Foods like cabbage are rich in iron.
Eat small portions of meal– Don’t eat too much at a time and don’t remain hungry for a longer period. Your baby needs to have food after a little bit of time only.
We need to add some kgs to your body. In the first trimester, you should be two kgs more.
You need to practise exercising during this time regularly. Gentle exercises will help you avoiding backache and give you energy and keep you boosted up. It will also help you to cope up during delivery.
Regular check-ups– Go for regular check-ups. You need to know how your child is. So, don’t miss any visit.
Plenty of Fluids and sleep– Have a lot of fluids and sleep. Don’t have caffeine at all. It leads to miscarriage.

Food –
Pregnancy weakens your immunity, and you are vulnerable to diseases during this time. Any sort of disease now will affect the child in your womb too. Eggs:
Don’t have raw eggs at all. They have some bacteria in it. Have cooked egg. It is necessary during pregnancy.
Fish and seafood:

Omega-3 fatty acids boost up the IQ of your baby. Have more of predator fish which intakes smaller fish. The mercury in these helps in the developing the brain of the baby. Meats:
Don’t go for stored foods now. Be it your chicken sandwich in fridge or burgers you need to heat it upto 71 degrees. You need to have meat but don’t go for too much of red meat. Don’t have too much of them because if you’re overweight, then there will be complications during delivery.
Cheese:
Have hard cheese and pasteurized ones only. If it is unpasteurized, certainly don’t go for it. Cheddar is fine to take.
Beverages and Juices:
Don’t have anything that is unpasteurized, like apple ciders. Fruit juice which has got a lot of sugar can make you gain weight, and your blood sugar level may rise which may again harm you. You and your baby both maybe overweight. You can have natural sodas a bit and also just the pure fruit juice.
Caffeinated drink:
Say no to coffee now onwards. It will make your baby underweight.
Alcohol:
Intake of alcohol results in fetal alcohol spectrum which is a disorder in the babies. Abstain yourself from drinking because it is not safe for the baby anyway.
Drugs:
Don’t hold the myth that taking too many medicines will give side-effects that will harm your baby. If you’ve problems like asthma or depression, then go for medications. Not taking medicines will harm further more. If you feel so much tensed, switch medications. If one has the side effect of kidney damage after sometimes change to medicine that cures the same disease with some other side effect.
Herbal products:
Not all herbal products should be taken during this time. Peppermint, Juniper, calendula are some of them that are to be totally avoided.

Exercise:
You need to exercise regularly and not become totally inactive. You need to walk at least for fifteen minutes four to five times a week at first and extend that to half an hour later.
Don’t change the litter box neither go for gardening.
In the sand and the faecal matter, there is a parasite called toxoplasmosis which can lead to health as well as mental problems in babies and mother. Your child can show mental problems later and you may also suffer from schizophrenia. If also, you’re doing be sure to wash your hands and wear gloves each time you do it.
No to hot showers:
The rise of temperature of your body by just one degree Celsius in the first three months can result in abnormality in the development of the organs of the baby. So, do avoid hot showers.
