Home Remedies For Spondylosis

Spondylosis means fixation or stiffening of the bony building blocks of the spine as the result of a disease process. Spondylosis refers to degeneration of the spine.

The term can be effectively used to describe the degeneration in the neck -called cervical spondylosis, lower back –called lumbar spondylosis, middle back –called thoracic spondylosis.

Although aging is the main cause, the location and rate of degeneration are individual. The spondylosis patients may have severe pain from facet joint osteoarthritis, causing extreme pain during times of high activity or after extended inactivity and one can also try spondylosis treatment in ayurveda.

What Are The Causes Of Cervical Spondylosis?

Cervical spondylosis is an age-related condition that severely affects the joints in the neck. It develops as a result of the tear and wear of the cartilage and bones of the cervical spine. There are several causes of cervical spondylosis. Here we have jotted down a few common causes.

  • Herniated disks: Age affects the exterior of the spinal disks. Several cracks often appear, leading to herniated or bulging disks which sometimes can press on the nerve roots and spinal cord.
  • Dehydrated disks: Disks work like cushions between the vertebrae of the spine. By the age of 38, most people’s spinal disks commence drying out and shrinking that allows more bone-on-bone contact between the vertebrae.

Causes of Cervical Spondylosis

  • Bone spurs: Disk degeneration sometimes results in the spine producing extra amounts of bone; many times called bone spurs, in a misguided effort to shore up the spine’s power. These bone spurs can many times pinch the nerve roots and spinal cord.
  • Stiff Ligaments: Ligaments are mainly cords of tissues that connect bone to bone. Increasing age can make spinal ligaments calcify and stiffen, making the neck less flexible.
